ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is standing trial in corruption cases, said on Thursday the government and the opposition should hold talks to reach a consensus with regard to a caretaker setup.
While interacting with journalists on the premises of the accountability court in Islamabad, Sharif said politicians should sit together to achieve consensus on a caretaker government.
He said there was a question mark over the rationale behind the filing of the supplementary references against him and members of his family when no corruption charges were proved against them.
The former premier said the work his government had done in its current tenure was evident to everyone.
He said there was a marked difference between the country’s present economy and that of 2013 when his party came to power.
In every field the difference was obvious, he said and added Pakistan’s rupee was losing its value against dollar after his ouster.
