How to Build a Japanese Woodworking Toolbox for Beginners

  • 6 лет назад
Project 21: I decided to make a tool box that had all the design elements of a traditional Japanese woodworking toolbox, but with the beginner in mind. Someone with motivation but a neophyte of skills and lacks money. The carcass of the tool box is made from 1/2 MDF, the drawer bottom is made from 1/4 birch plywood, and the handles and drawer face are made of pine. Glue+poplar dowels and brass screws are used to keep the toolbox together. \r

There are no complex joinery. A traditional Japanese toolbox is generally bigger, but the type of material (MDF) constraints the size of this box. \r
\r
The toolbox measures ~20 X 8 X 12 3/4 The main compartment is just over 0.42 cubic ft; the drawer is ~0.12 cubic ft. This seems small but it is enough space to hold every hand tool used to make this box (excluding clamps).\r
