History of Play-Doh:\r
In the 1930s the product was originally a pliable, putty-like substance that could clean coal residue from wallpaper. In the 1950s a classroom of children began using it to make Christmas ornaments and the product was reworked and marketed to Cincinnati schools. Play-Doh was demonstrated at an educational convention in 1956 and prominent department stores. Play-Doh compound was available only in one color and size, an off-white, 1.5-pound can. Since then has since become a classic and beloved toy, used in homes and schools around the world by children of all ages.\r
\r
Play-Doh is primarily a mixture of water, salt and flour. It does not contain peanuts, peanut oil, or any milk byproducts. It does contain wheat. Play-Doh compound is not a food item and is not intended to be eaten. Play-Doh compound is non-toxic, non-irritating & non-allergenic except as noted: Children who are allergic to wheat gluten may have an allergic reion to this product. Also, due to the high salt content in Play-Doh compound, the product can be harmful to pets if ingested.\r
