Leeds Bradford Airport closes temporarily for snow clearance

Leeds Bradford Airport was forced to temporarily close today (February 28) while plough-trucks cleared snow from the runway in the ongoing "Beast from the East" snowstorm.

The airport had issued delay warnings the night before to travellers, advising them to contact their airlines ahead of time to check the status of their flights under the adverse conditions.

The storm has brought numerous delays and difficulties to all forms of travel in the UK for the past few days with ice and heavy snow moving west across the country.

The airport announced on Twitter that it has since reopened.
