Officials in southern India rescued a man who had been climbing overhead power line.

The incident took place in South Indian city of Erode on February 24.

The 55-year-old man had been admitted to a local government hospital by his wife and two daughters.

After a minor altercation with his family, the man fled the hospital and ran into the streets followed by his family.

As the family tried to get him back to the hospital, he climbed a street light, prompting onlookers to alert officials, who turned off the power supply.

The man then started walking on the power cables, maintaining a precarious balance and spreading panic among watching officials, who tried to rescue him.

As the officials tried to persuade him to get down, he tried to jump on to a nearby house and fell.

He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and doctors said he had sustained only "minor injuries."
