Louisville Metro Police Survey Ohio River Flood Damage

Officers with the Louisville, Kentucky, Metro Police Department surveyed water levels and damage caused by severe flooding along the banks of the Ohio River on Monday, February 26.The Ohio River was forecasted to crest by Monday afternoon. However, the National Weather Service reported moderate flooding conditions would exist through Tuesday night.Heavy rain, including nearly three inches at Louisville airport on Saturday, triggered the flooding, the Courier Journal reported. A crest of 36.1 feet would be the ninth-highest for the Ohio River in Louisville.Mayor Greg Fischer and Deputy Mayor Ellen Hesen told reporters they would be asking for clean-up assistance, and the estimated cost could exceed $2.7 million for damage relief.
