WALPACK CENTER: Walpack, New Jersey

Walpack Center is an abandoned town from the 1960's. The Plan was that the government was going to dam up the rivers and flood the valley. So the government tried to buy out the residents for pennies on the dollar and then later by force, but the plan never went through due to economic issues. The town lay dormant all these years.

The historical society is now restoring the buildings for preservational usage. At the time of our visit the location wasn't all that impressive to look at and only encompassed a few buildings. Each building was painted pure and innocent white and was kind of eerie since the town was not populated. People still pass through the town from time to time, and they are actually starting to install electricity to some of the buildings.

We came across this town just prior to dusk and explored to acquire some photos. The town had an eerie feel and felt trapped and locked back in time.
