# 7 Pintupi Nine\r
In the 1950s, British colonizers began to round up the nomadic aboriginals who populated Australias desert and herded them into settlements; these included the Pintupi tribe. However, they managed to overlook one Pintupi family, a group of nine. They managed to avoid being rounded up for a few years and continued to live just like their ancestors, traveling through the heat of the desert from one watering hole to another. That was until 1984 when they encountered a white guy in the dunes who reintroduced them to the other Pintupi peoples who they were separated from, and they began to come back into cont with modern society. \r

# 6 Wintering in Antarctica\r
Antarctica is the only continent on the globe without a real permanent human population. However, there is a floating population of around 5,000 temporary residents at any time. Flying in and out of Antarctica is hard enough during its summer, but nearly impossible in the winter. So, anyone who decides to stay in their respective settlements through the nine-month winter of the South Pole will have no way to leave. This creates a temporary society of people who must live together in isolation almost completely in the dark since the sun doesnt rise for most of the year. Apparently, they spend their down time making crafts, reading, watching s, drinking, and in general trying not to go stir-crazy.\r

# 5 The Surma\r
You might know the Surma from the famous photographs of their enormous “lip plugs” or “lip plates.” The Surma are an isolated tribe in Ethiopia that has evaded cont with the outside world for hundreds of years, managing to stay completely self-sustaining in our globalized economy. They price body art in the form of the aforementioned lip plates, body art, and scarification. Apparently, they are so isolated that when Russian doctors tried to come into cont with them, they ran away thinking that the white men were zombies. \r

# 4 The Man of the Hole\r
This is one of the few photographs to exist of the man who is sometimes called “The Last of His Tribe” because he is believed to be the last surviving member of an isolated and unconted tribe in the Amazon Rainforest. He may be the only one who knows anything about his tribes customs, cultures, language, and even its name. He ively runs away and avoids modern people and seems to be unwilling to or afraid to talk to anyone. Hes known for the holes he digs which he uses to trap game or hide inside of. Eventually, the Brazilian government decided to leave him alone and protected a 42.5 square mile area around his area to let him hunt and live in peace. We may never know more about the “Man of the Hole” or the tribe he once belonged to. \r

# 3 Little Diomede\r
Little Diomede Island is an isolated community even in comparison to the already isolated communities of Alaska. It is right in the middle of the Bering Strait, and while it is part of Alaska, the closest island called Big Diomede is ually a part of Russia. This 2.8 square mile (or 7.3 square kilometer) island is home to about 70 people and relies on helicopter and plane deliveries of food and mail. During a weeks-long bout of bad weather, the islanders had to pool together their food and supplies until they could get into cont with the outside world again. \r

# 2 Korowai People\r
The Korowai people are a relatively isolated tribe in Indonesia that are mostly known for their sky-high treehouse dwellings that are built about 40 feet or 12 meters from the ground. However, they might be more well known for their alleged cannibalism, which is more than likely an exaggeration used to attr and manipulate tourists. The tribe has stopped pricing cannibalism decades ago, but theyre known for playing up that part of their culture to intrigue outsiders or make a fool out of prying reporters. \r

# 1 San Pedro Prison\r
San Pedro Prison in Bolivia is primarily a place for the incarcerated to serve their time, but its a got more than a few eccentricities. While its a prison, it functions a lot like a small city. Theres a drug trade, real-estate business, and until recently: tourism. Wealthier inmates live in extravagant suites; the poorest inmates are forced to sleep outside. Its not idyllic or peaceful, however, there is plenty of bribery, violence, ual assault, and smokable cocaine being produced and trafficked outside of the prison. After an incident in new, a hard ban on tourists was placed, although all the other economies still exist.
