People have long searched the Internet to find out how Nickelodeon had made their green slime. While theres no direct evidence out there, stories suggest a number of different items, all of which make sense.\r
\r
But of course here at Jays Bar & Club Jay youre not going to get away with doing anything in any sort of conventional manner. Please give it up for my friend Teresa who came up with this idea:\r
\r
INSTANT MASHED POTATOES, watered down to look like slime! It really works! Cheap and easy! Cant beat that!\r
\r
You will need:\r
*Approximately 28 oz of Instant Mashed Potato Flakes (OK if you get 2 13.5 oz boxes, youre trying to come close to 28 oz. I got mine as Market Pantry brand at Target, if you can find that, great, if not, get what you can, its all the same.)\r
*Water. The Market Pantry brand calls for 13½ cups water to start with. I think I added about another 12 cups to that. Thats 25½ cups of water, about 6½ quarts, so youll need at least an 8 quart pot.\r
*Food Coloring. You should already have this on hand, if you dont youll need to buy it and it will cost a few dollars, but it lasts damn near forever.\r
*A gurgle of vegetable oil. You can use whatever oil you have on hand, Olive Oil, Soybean Oil, Corn Oil, etc.\r
*A BIG wooden spoon. Youll probably break a regular wooden spoon, so it pays to have a nice one on hand. Alternately, if you feel the mixture too tough to handle by pure muscle, you can use a hand blender to do the work for you. In this case I didnt, I did it all by hand.\r
\r
Boil the original 13½ cups water, add the box, mix everything up, add more water a bit at a time until you come to the right consistency. The right consistency will be based somewhat on the ambient temperature and humidity, and how long you plan to leave the stuff before using it (IT HAS TO COOL!!!)\r
\r
Cool this stuff for a good 3 hours, stirring every 20-30 minutes or so, just to ensure everything is completely homogenized. Stick your hand down to the bottom of the pot to ensure everything has cooled so it wont burn anyone. Nothing worse than that.\r
\r
Have fun!\r
