An Uber driver accidentally destroyed a mailbox in Long Island, New York, and ruined his passenger's surprise at the same time.

Brett Meiselas was going to surprise his mother with an unexpected visit home as he is currently living in California. But when he finally reached his final destination, everything went down due to a mailbox.

"As I walked up the driveway, I heard a loud crash! I looked back to see my mother's mailbox decapitated," the filmer said.

The Uber driver might not have seen the object and ran into it while going backwards.

He then added: "This set off a motion alert on her security system, capturing the whole incident on video (and spoiling my meticulously planned surprise!)".

"Luckily, mom is handy, and she drove to the hardware store and fixed up the mailbox," concluded Brett.
