8. Kodiak Bears\r
Also more commonly referred to as brown bears, theyre a type of bear thats around the same size if not just a little smaller when compared to a polar bear, with the largest of both species reach weights of around 700 kg. Like their Arctic counterparts, brown bears reside in relatively cold environments and are native to the southwest of Alaska. Kodiak bears specifically are the largest of the brown bears. Like the polar bear, these fluffy but treacherous bears are one of the largest carnivores in the world.\r

7. Large Flying Fox\r
Everyone knows who Batman is, but the large flying fox, also known as the Malaysian flying fox more closely resembles the Dark Knights enemy, Man-Bat. Theyre bats native to southeast Asia and are one of the largest species of bats. Of course, theyre part of the Pteropus Vampyrus species. So if you have a fear of the Halloween-associated flying creatures, you probably dont want to get to close.\r

6. Swordfish\r
Also known as broadbills, Swordfish on average are 3 m long, though the largest was measured at 4.55 m long and have been known to weigh as much as 1.400 pounds. Although they do not normally just attack people unprovoked, they are known to get incredibly aggressive when they get injured and are in danger of being caught. For instance, when they get harpooned by humans, Swordfish switch into high survival mode and dive as fast and as deep as they can back into the water. In new, a fisherman tried to reel in the fish himself--to which the Swordfish responded by leaping onto the boat and stabbing the man. In new, a giant eyeball the size of a softball was found on the shores of Florida, which was later revealed to have once belonged to a swordfish.\r

5. Chickens\r
Calling someone a “chicken” entails that they are meek and cowardly. However, the sight of a Brahma chicken has recently turned that name-calling phrase into something frightening. This past week, a video of a gigantic chicken stalking around its coop sent viewers reeling, wondering if the footage was real. Spoiler, thats footage of a real chicken taken outside its coop located in Kosovo. It really isnt until you see enormous birds like ostriches and especially this chicken is anyone super convinced how closely related birds are to dinosaurs. Brahma chickens weigh in as large as 18 pounds, while your everyday chicken usual reach no heavier than 8 pounds. For some scale, thats a tree next to the chicken. \r

4. Chinese Giant Salamander\r
When theyre newly born, these Chinese salamanders look like regular salamanders. And it isnt until theyve reached their adult age to do you really get to see how big they are able to get. Chinese giant salamanders are known to not only be the largest salamander, but also the largest amphibians in the world. Theyre part of an animal family that goes as far back as 170 million years. Typically, they eat smaller animals like crabs and fish, but also insects and even other salamanders. The largest these kinds of amphibians have been known to reach are about 180 cm in length.\r

3. Ocean Sunfish\r
To give you an idea how big Ocean Sunfish are, heres a photo of a diver swimming near one. These particular fish are the heaviest bony fish known to mankind, and can weigh as heavy over 2,000 pounds. Interestingly, they eat mostly jellyfish, which makes them much more daring than they already look.\r

2. Elephants\r
More specifically, the African Bush Elephant. When it comes to the land, the spot for heaviest animal goes to the this specific species of African elephants. The heaviest has been measured to weigh 13,230 pounds, or about 6 tonnes. As far as length goes, theyre recorded to reach 10.5 feet tall, so about the height of an average ceiling. As you could probably guess, there arent really natural predators that exist for these elephants--as its the biggest animal in its environment. Although, the occasional lion has dared to try and bring down the elephant calfs.\r

1. Blue Whale\r
As you can see from this picture, in comparison to humans, blue whales are undoubtedly enormous. They are known to be the largest animal ever to have existed. They have been reported to reach lengths of 30 m long, or 98 ft. Whats strange is that they usually only eat krill, which on average are about 2 inches in length, yet blue whales have been known to reach weights of over 180 tons.
