Griffins Leaf-Nosed Bat … Its only found in Vietnam and was first discovered in 2008. Its distinctive nose appears to assist in the mammals use of echolocation, allowing it to navigate. It was initially found in a national park in Vietnam … but wasnt documented as an entirely new species until later.\r

The Young Family\r
This image made the rounds online, and was said to depict creatures that were ual hybrids of humans and pigs. Well, it does look pretty convincing. But while it turns out the picture is authentic … but the story is only half-true. This is ually a hyper-real sculpture by an Australian artist named Patricia Piccinini (pr). She says she created it as a way to speculate what such a human-animal hybrid might look like. Still, a lot of people believed the fiction. And it is interesting to note that the sculptures materials include silicone, leather, plywood, and … human hair. Hmm\r

Lamprey -- Appearing kind of like an eel, the lamprey is a jawless fish, most often described as a giant leech. These creatures have circular rows of teeth to suck whatever blood they can find from anything they can get ahold of. You can see one in the picture by Gabor Degre … this one being held by a researcher was found in Maine, where despite their fearsome look, the creatures are viewed as a natural part of the ecosystem … and pose no threat to humans.\r

Goliath Tigerfish -- native to the Congo River Basin, this animal is a fierce predator, and is the largest member of the tigerfish family. And in the picture by Dan Huertas, it projects a fearsome appearance. The biggest Goliath Tigerfish on record weighed over 150 pounds and was nearly 5 feet long. Its so aggressive that itll even take on crocodiles. \r

Unidentified \r
It does look pretty scary, rising out of the water. But finding much information on this critter was difficult. Im guessing this is more the result of a Photoshop session than the result of evolution. The monsters head kind of resembles a monkfish that was pasted onto the body of another fish. Can you guess what the mash-up might be?\r

Sam the Cryptkeeper\r
Remember “Tales from the Crypt”? This Chinese-Crested dog named Sam bears a striking resemblance to the Cryptkeeper. But thats not Sams only claim to fame. He has the distinction of winning a “Worlds Ugliest Dog” contest held in California three years in a row! \r

Tumble Down Under\r
This 10-foot python entertained bystanders as it constricted this croc to death and then enjoyed it for a nice meal. That led to some observers to wonder if thats what the snake meant when it said it was having a friend for lunch? This happened in Australia … but it was definitely not a gday for that croc!
