Bus Windows Smashed as Dalit Protests Cause Travel Disruption in Mumbai

A protest called by Dalit groups caused widespread travel disruption in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, India, on January 3, with reports of train lines and roads being blocked.NDTV reported that the protest was called in response to an alleged attack by a right-wing organisation on a group of Dalits near Pune on Monday, where one person was killed. The Dalit group were commemorating the Bhima Koregaon battle at the time, The Hundu reported.Western Railway announced that it had cancelled trains as a result of the protests on Wednesday. Social media footage posted on Wednesday was described as showing protesters blocking trains on railway tracks in Goregaon.This footage is described as showing damage to buses in the Kanjurmarg area of Mumbai.
