Neil Gaiman Has Some Thoughts About Fan Fiction

It's common for fans to create their own fictional relationships between characters.
It's called "shipping" (think Rey and Kylo Ren in "Star Wars").
Neil Gaiman recently responded to a fan who wanted to know if Crowley from "Good Omens" was gay.
You can infer, and (more to the point) you can imagine, and lots of people have chosen, not unreasonably, to ship him with Aziraphale, but you are still Making Stuff Up...
The point [of fanfiction] is that you can change things and have fun with them. And the stories are absolutely true… for you.
