George Weah Wins Liberian Run-off Election

A former soccer star has won the run-off presidential election in Liberia.
George Weah defeated his opponent, Vice President Joseph Boakai, by a tally of 62-percent to 38-percent.
The election has been declared as 98-percent of the votes are now in.
According to the National Elections Commission the specifc vote tally is 61.5-percent in favor of Weah, with 38.5-percent casting their ballots for Boakai.
The run-off marks the first election since President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf took office in 2006, following a civil war.
It also marks the first democratic transition of authority since 1944.
