The 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeonchang Are in Danger of Being Too Cold It is so cold that organizers are starting to worry about spectators at the opening and closing ceremonies. Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium is a new, open-air stadium built for the games but offers little protection from the cold. According to the Associated Press, six people were treated for hypothermia after attending a recent concert at the stadium. "We all hope it will be better in February, but if it's like it is now, there will be big trouble. It's just too cold for outsiders." The AP reports that is it too late to build a roof over the stadium and that organizers will provide other alternatives to keep spectators warm. With single digit temperatures (Fahrenheit) expected, Pyeongchang will be close to 40 degrees colder than the previous two Winter Olympics in Vancouver and Sochi.
