On Wednesday, former U.S. president Barack Obama said that the way people communicate through social media risked splitting up society, and leaders had to ensure the internet does not envelop users within their own biases. In a broadcast on BBC radio on Wednesday, Obama said “All of us in leadership have to find ways in which we can recreate a common space on the Internet." Obama has previously warned that social media platforms can lead people to make snap judgments about complex decisions.
