Chuck Taylor vs. Zack Sabre Jr. - My Way - PWG Pushin Forward Back

In February 2017, Chuck Taylor challenged for the PWG World Championship for the first time after nearly nine years with the company. Not only was it a tip of the hat to Taylor – a veteran from more humble days of PWG – it was the pay-off to an incredible two-year win streak by a man who had become the heart of Reseda.

Ultimately, it was also the end of that streak. But it was not the end of Chuck Taylor. Instead, it was the start of what would eventually be seen as one of the year's best stories in wrestling.

The end of the match saw Taylor pass out from the grip of defending champion Zack Sabre Jr., but Sabre's grip on Taylor didn't end with the final bell. Sabre Jr.'s former Leaders of the New School partner, Marty Scurll, came out at the end of the match to add insult (and more injury) to injury. With freshly-turned-heel Sabre Jr., the pair ruthlessly attacked Taylor until he was rescued by his Best Friend, Trent.

This set up a feud that would last nearly half the year, with a brutal tag match that would see Trent get the final pin on Sabre Jr. and another post-match attack by the newly-reformed LDRS. From there, a championship opportunity for Trent against Sabre Jr., and a street fight for Taylor and Scurll.

The blood feud between the Best Friends and the LDRS would end with a PWG World Championship rematch for Taylor at Pushin Forward Back on July 7th, 2017, in Reseda, CA.
