Penning her first song at the tender age of 11, Mia Wray is a singer/songwriter with a voice that reveals the strength in fragility. A self-taught musician, Mia draws influence from such great artists as Paul Kelly, Bob Dylan, Laura Marling and Gabrielle Aplin, all the while infusing subtlety and soul to captivate audiences and shake them to the core with her unique soul/folk style.
Born in Melbourne and raised on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, at the age of 15 Mia was the inaugural wildcard finalist in the Telstra Road to Discovery, being one of the youngest contestants to make it through to the finals. She then went on to win the People’s Choice award, capturing the attention of head judge Bill Page of Mushroom Music Publishing.

I was completely taken by the honesty and passion of her performance and song writing.

Mia signed to Mushroom in late 2012, followed by a series of shows at the Woodford Folk Festival at the end of 2012.
Since then Mia has been building her online presence. Now with over 4,000 YouTube subscribers, she has produced a series of unique cover versions, putting her soulful touch to songs by a variety of artists, from Outkast to Coldplay.
2014 brings about the next chapter for Mia. Having spent 2013 writing and performing locally, and just been in the studio in to record her debut EP with renowned producer Greg J. Walker.
