PRESENTED BY ZACH BUGGY
Hailing all the way from Kilkenny in the Sunny South East of Ireland, The Southern Fold was formed in April 2014 after a gig at a Tribute night for Kurt Cobain. Immediately then turning their attention to collaborating on original material, the duo began home recording some instrumentally-sparse, harmony-laden country-folk tunes and the results are now released for whomever may care to listen. Over the summer of '14, along with a couple of local radio interviews, the duo took to the stage in as many Open Mics & Music Clubs as would allow them in, including gigs in the King Kong Club and The Song Room, Dublin. Le Cheile Festival, Oldcastle, Co. Meath. Ryan's Open Mic, Kilkenny and The Red Chair, Wexford (both of which called them back for a guest headliner spot), an appearance at the Kilkenny Relay for Life and a support slot for Hans Chew in Cleere's, Kilkenny. The Southern Fold are now looking forward to a busy October, with a support slot for the Riptide Movement in the Set Theatre, Kilkenny, and a slot at the Folk Club in Whelan's, Dublin. They're also busy at work on their first EP which they hope to bring out in the very near future, and are currently bringing in more musicians to help develop their sound and open up new dynamics to take on the road.
