PRESENTED BY PALMIRA MANCUSO

Damen Samuel is a singer/songwriter and a traveling troubadour who is spreading his mellow, powerful tunes with an acoustic guitar and a velvety voice. His music style can best be described as Soul Acoustic, a unique blend of Soul, Folk and Jazz influences.
Damen has fully taken advantage of living in a world with fewer borders than the one he was born into. Raised in former East Germany at the height of the cold war by his German mother. His father was a student from Nigeria.
Some of the songs that he wrote during that period can be found on his EP Storyteller, recorded in 2005.
His first full-length album A Gypsy’s Lullaby was recorded in Melbourne (Australia) and launched there in 2009 after he relocated there a few years prior.
In 2009-2010 Damen also went on an extensive tour performing live shows and festivals across Australia, the U.S. and Europe.
Nowadays he regularly travels between Melbourne, the U.S. and Europe working on various projects and introducing his music to a broad international audience.
Damen spent the end of 2012 at The Buddy Project studio in Astoria Queens, the studio where Sufjan Stevens recorded most of his expansive orch-pop opus, Illinoise.
Here Damen had the opportunity to work with producer/engineer Kieran Kelly (Angus Stone) and record songs for his new record Odyssey.
He also had the great fortune to work with an amazing rhythm section- Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright) on drums and Rob Calder (Angus & Julia Stone) on bass.
The first single of Odyssey will be released in June 2013.
His latest trip to NYC also saw Damen reunite with long time friend and fellow artist Lord
Toph, who runs Monté CrisToph Multimedia in NYC.
