SugarSonic features Stevie Roberts on keyboards/ Vocals & Emma Mauro on vocals. Sugar Sonic play all original music. Their material has a distinctly R n B/ soul/ club feel. Influences include Jamiroquai, Groove Armada, Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Macklemore.
Keyboard player and songwriter Stevie swapped the grim climate of the UK for Australia 18 years ago having been seduced by the tropics travelling around Australia. Stevie has played in a number of bands over the years including Abigail’s Party in London and more recently Jungle Juice in Cairns. His passion is to create new music and push the limits of electronic gear.
Emma is a long time North Queenslander. She cut her musical teeth busking locally and apart from being a vocalist plays guitar. Emma composes her own material some of which features in SugarSonic.
If you’re interested in seeing Sugar Sonic live, don’t expect to hear the old classics or a set full of cover versions. Be prepared to enjoy some new material which combines silky grooves, infectious rhythms and sweet harmonies.
