Aarifah Rebello is a singersongwriter, guitarist and drummer from Mumbai. She doesn’t really remember what made music and her such a good combo apart from her mother’s terrific vocal strength and her father’s keen curiosity while playing with strings on a guitar or meddling with keys on the piano, or the countless number of family jam sessions when her relatives came to visit.
She has been singing and playing for college competitions and church events at the same time flitting from one band to another during her college years after having picked up both the drums and guitar. Her first achievement was placing first in Maharashtra for her Grade 1, Rockschool exam in Drums, and has since known that music was what she wanted to do. Currently she has finished her Grade 5 in Rockschool passing with Merit. She is hopeful to finish the remaining three grades soon, as she was made to stop due to time constraints while she worked part time at Furtados and studied Journalism.
Her most notable achievements have been placing second at Asia’s biggest cultural fest IIT Powai’s, Mood Indigo for a solo singing competition, Singing the Indigos, and has placed third in a singer songwriter competition hosted by The Lil Flea. Her latest venture led her across India, road tripping on a reality based music show with MTV called ‘Angels of Rock’ where she was the guitarist of the show, performing in cities like Amritsar, Jaipur etc.
Besides playing the drums for The Bassic, Lawntuba and Nookie Jar, she has pieced together a band and is working on recording her Debut EP, along with various videos on YouTube, and homemade audios on Soundcloud.
