Mi Jardín Secreto is an indie rock band from Lima, currently formed by Fernando Mora, Kaboogie, Cristhian Manzanares and Víctor Hugo Vargas.
They started in 2004, originally with Víctor Hugo on vocals and guitar, Cristhian on drums and Fernando as a lead guitarist, joined by José Miguel Castro on bass.
A year later, Diego Bazán joins the band as guitarist, leaving Victor Hugo entirely as frontman, this being their definitive formation throughout those years, in which they were also an active part of Internerds Recors, participating in some compilations albums and concerts made by this online label at the time.
In 2006, they began recording their debut album, with José Javier Castro, factotum of El Aire, as producer, and David Acuña as recording engineer. The result of those sessions finally would be released in 2009, with the name La ciencia y el arte de la falsificación, edited by Basto Discos.
Later on, José Miguel Castro was replaced by Kaboogie, a very close friend with an extensive experience in Lima’s indie rock scene. Finally, after Diego Bazán also decided to leave, MJS split at the end of 2010, giving a farewell concert for all his fans.
All the remaining 4 members continued to make music on their own, in different musical projects. After several conversations, Mi Jardín Secreto decided to get together again in mid-2014 as a four-piece band, posing a straighter, powerful sound than their first album.
Their second CD, Lo que no pudimos cambiar, was recorded at Dragón Verde studio, by Eddie Plenge as recording engineer, and Gonzalo Alcalde, leader of the surf rock band Los Protones as producer. Cuaderno Roto released the album on June 1st.
