ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) is forecasting cold and dry weather across the country after the minimum temperature in Quetta was recorded minus 10 degree Celsius.

The ongoing cold spell has intensified across the country wherein people have put on warm clothes to fight cold weather conditions. The Met department forecasted cold weather conditions with wintry showers, strong winds, and light snowfall over the hills in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan for next 24 hours.

Quetta and Kalat, two cities of Balochistan, were the coldest area with minimum temperature of minus 10 degree Celsius and maximum of 10 and 11 degree Celsius respectively.

The minimum temperature in other cities were recorded as Kalam – 6oC, Dalbandin – 5oC, Skardu – 4oC, Karachi 14oC, Islamabad 2oC, Gilgit – 4oC, Lahore 3oC, and Peshawar 4oC.

Earlier, the weather department forecasted a fresh spell of cold weather in Karachi from December 4 (Monday).

The Met office then said the wind direction was likely to shift from north to south which would push the mercury down several degrees across the city.

It said a new spell of cold weather to remain continued for a week, adding, the weather was likely to remain moderately cool throughout the month of December and gradually transform into winter season.
