ANDY NEWMARK – an interview.

Andy talks about part of his life and times in the music business, and his surprising prowess as a tennis professional!
Andy was interviewed during a break in playing with Tony O’Malley at Hamish Stuart’s pub, The Three Mariners, at Faversham, on June 29th 2008. With him and Tony were fellow musicians Neil Hubbard, Adam Phillips, and Mark Smith.

Andy Newmark, percussionist extraordinaire, began as drummer for Sly and the Family Stone, and has gone on to work with the world’s great musicians and artists, including John Lennon, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, George Harrison, Rickie Lee Jones, Randy Newman, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Ronnie Wood, David Gilmour, Roxy Music, ABC, Laura Nyro, Elkie Brooks, Sting, George Benson, Carly Simon, Gary Wright, Willie Weeks, Jim Keltner, David Sanborn, Will Lee, Steve Gadd, Hugh McCracken, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Luther Vandross, Neil Jason, Tony Levin, Ralph MacDonald, Earl Slick, Klaus Voormann, Jimmy Maelen, Don Grolnick, Ronnie Cuber, McKendree Spring, Phillips-Macleod, Glamour, Camp, Mark Farner Band, Tom Verlaine Band, Grand Funk, Alessi Brother, Andy Pratt, Bob James, Badfinger, Carole King, Cat Stevens, David Forman, Evie Sands, Jim Capaldi, Liona Boyd, Roy Harper, Steve Winwood, and Yoko Ono.
