Hope fades as search for Argentine submarine enters ninth day

Families of the 44 crewmembers who have been missing on an Argentinian submarine called the San Juan went home on friday from the Mar del Plata naval base after hearing evidence that sub may have exploded. A navy spokesman said on Thursday that a sound was detected underwater shortly after the submarine sent out its last signal, “the sound was consistent with an explosion”. The search for the vessel will continue but many families are losing hope that they will see their loved ones again.
