Man Assaults Woman on New York Subway After She Challenges Him for 'Manspreading'

A woman was assaulted on the New York subway on Thursday, November 16, for asking another passenger to give her room, according to her account of the incident.The woman, Sam Saia, said she sat down next to the man after getting on the train at Bay Parkway.“He proceeded to press me against the wall and manspread me excessively,” said Saia in a Facebook post. “When I asked him to give me room, he yelled ‘Bitch, you ain’t nothing! I’ve raped white bitches like you, fucking cunt! You ain’t nothing, you fucking bitch!’ I told him to relax and put my ear buds in. He yelled at me to not ignore him, called me a bitch and cunt again, and punched me in the face and banged my head against the wall.”A bystander intervened, according to Saia, with another passenger, Anthony Macca, capturing the rest of the incident on film. Saia is identifiable in the video with blood on her lip. She later posted images of her injuries to Facebook and Twitter, and accused police of “doing fuck all about it.” The New York Daily News contacted the NYPD, who did not offer a comment on the incident.
