Puga had allegedly pointed a gun at deputies before being shot following a dangerous pursuit through South Los Angeles residential streets late Friday afternoon.\r

After being hit in the upper torso by gunfire, Puga walked toward a nearby residence and collapsed on the front porch, his white-T-shirt stained with blood, aerial video showed.\r

About an hour later, he surrendered to deputies and was taken into custody without further incident, according to the release.\r

The Sheriffs Department later said that Puga had been wanted in connection with a March 8 kidnapping in which he was accused of forcing his wife into a vehicle at gunpoint in the city of Paramount, officials said.\r

The woman managed to escape after he stopped at hers mothers house so she could use the bathroom, according to the release.\r

Deputies saw Pugas vehicle Friday and began pursuing him after he failed to stop, the release stated.\r
