Yesterday, program was organized by Punjabi Academy at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi, 17th July2008 from 6.30 onwards.
In the honour of renowned Golden Star "Malkit Singh" who received "Order of honour" from Queen Elizabeth.
Sh. Arvinder Singh, Hon'ble Minister of Education, felicitated Malkit Singh by giving Shawl and memento on behalf of Delhiets. As VIP Guest there was Punjabi Pop Singer Kaptan Laddi and Jassi, H.S.Chima (ACP, women cell) to grace the event.
Arvinder Singh congratulated Malkit Singh. He said, "Punjabi songs are evergreen. Malkit had made our country proud. He is in heart of every Indian and is life of every Punjabi.
Pramod Kaul and Romilo (Head, Zee Punjabi) greeted Malkit with flowers.
There after Malkit Singh embraced the occasion with his evergreen songs like Mere maa di pakiya roti, Gur nal ishq mitha, Mennu ek pal chain na aaya,Tere bin nai jina mar jana, Tu tak tu tak tu tutiya…etc. Later, Kaptan Laddi and H.S. Chima (ACP) also gave company to Malkit's evergreen songs. Dance troupe was also there to performed Gidda and Bhangra with fully traditional ethnic clothes

Malkit shared his childhood stories with us where, how he use to use bus pass for a year where it was valid for only 1month…bunking classes and going for music classes. His teacher was also there sharing many naughty stories of Malkit.
The audience was full of enthusiasm, dancing and clapping. Over all the whole program was full of fun, enjoyment; every one thoroughly enjoyed.
