In the latest Champion’s League action, cup holders Real Madrid suffered one of their worst European defeats, going down 3:1 against Tottenham.

The drubbing by Spurs leaves them top and the first to go through in Group H to the knockout stages.

Spurs are the first team to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League group stages since October 2012.

In Group G Turkey’s Besiktas edged closer to a place in the last 16 after a pulsating one all draw with Monaco…leaving them top of the group and hoping to qualify for the knockouts for the first time.

Rampant Manchester City treated fans to a thrilling 4:2 victory at Napoli giving them a perfect 12-point haul in Group F and securing them a place in the Champions League last 16.

And in Group E Liverpool were rewarded for their patience as they eventually over came some stoic defending from Slovenia’s Maribor to win 3:0 .
The Scousers top the group with 8 points, one clear of second placed Sevilla.
