In the wake of the two deadly earthquakes that killed nearly 500 people in Mexico in September, the country's Day of the Dead parade was especially significant this year.

Thousands lined the route along Mexico City's Paseo de la Reforma Boulevard to watch the holiday parade. This year, the program reflected the recent tragedies, including a tribute to emergency workers and volunteers. The workers marched with fists in the air, the same gesture they made to demand silence as they tried to locate survivors in the rubble.

The parade was reportedly triple the size of last year's, and was inspired by a Day of the Dead celebration featured in the 2015 James Bond film, "Spectre."
