Footage shows a student being held to the floor by an assistant principal in a Rhode Island high school.
In the video filmed Monday (October 23), a 15-year-old student is immobilised following a reported earlier incident at the cafeteria.
According to local report, Mr Bacon, the assistant principal, told the police that he was attempting to escort the student, Amare Pemberton, from the cafeteria after he had cut in line.
Bacon told police, “I tried to gently guide [the student], who then dropped his bag and raised his clenched fists.”
Then, Bacon declared that he tried to "gently restrain" the student but Amare continued to resist and they both fell on the floor.
According to a friend of the boy's mother, the student wanted to leave the line when Bacon grabbed him. She continues saying that "the student clearly said 'let me go' whilst Bacon was holding him. He kept trying to get away from his grip and Bacon proceeded to tackle Amare."
She finally adds that the boy never dropped his bag as it can be seen on his back in the video.
The police is still investigating the incident while Bacon has been placed on administrative leave and Amare Pemberton has been charged with two counts of simple assault.
