എഎഫ്സി ഏഷ്യാ കപ്പ് യോഗ്യതാ മത്സരത്തിനുള്ള ഇന്ത്യൻ ടീമില്‍ നിന്ന് മലയാളിതാരം സി കെ വിനീതിനെ ഒഴിവാക്കി. മ്യാൻമറിനെതിരായ പോരാട്ടത്തിനുള്ള ടീമില്‍ നിന്നാണ് കോച്ച് സ്റ്റീഫൻ കോണ്‍സ്റ്റൻറൈൻ വിനീതിനെ ഒഴിവാക്കിയത്. 2019ല്‍ നടക്കുന്ന ഏഷ്യാ കപ്പിന് ഇന്ത്യ നേരത്തെ യോഗ്യത ഉറപ്പാക്കിയിരുന്നതിനാല്‍ മത്സരം ഇന്ത്യക്ക് നിർണായകമല്ല. കഴിഞ്ഞ മത്സരത്തില്‍ മക്കാവുവിനെ തകർത്താണ് ഇന്ത്യ യോഗ്യത ഉറപ്പാക്കിയത്.
