Monkey and cow become 'friends' and spend every evening together

A monkey and a cow have struck an unlikely friendship in Tohana, a town in Haryana, India.

They meet every evening near a local taxi stand. The monkey climbs onto the cow’s back and lies flat on its belly without a care in the world. The cow continues to graze carrying its simian friend.

A Tohana-based reporter Sushil Singla says the cow-monkey friendship is just three months old and nobody knows how they came together. But they meet without fail every evening and spend a few hours together.

Many find the unspoken bond between the two animals inspiring.

A local resident, who was not identified, told Azad TV News that many in the town found the friendship inspiring. “If animals can live in peace, why cannot humans do the same,” he said.
