I don’t think I’ve ever started a Coronation Street preview with a quote from Chekhov, but on this occasion it seems appropriate. In a letter written in 1889, he stated, “One must never place a loaded rifle on the stage if it isn’t going to go off.” And as we watch Pat Phelan sitting by his open safe, calmly checking a handgun, I can’t help but feel that someone will staring down the barrel of that firearm very soon. But who?
Elsewhere, Todd and Adam’s future as Better Call Saul-style lawyers comes to an abrupt halt when both are arrested. How will they talk their way out of this one?
SUMMARY
Phelan acts fast to cut off Daniel's line of enquiry and Summer follows Todd's poor example. Kate demands answers from Rana, when she tells her she cannot stop thinking about her and is jealous of Imogen. Continues at 8.30pm.
