After failing to assassinate Liquid in the Middle East, Snake is left to think over what he had seen. Naomi had been there with Liquid, who activated something that affected the soldiers in the area. Otacon tells Snake that Naomi had just sent them a message from South America, asking them to rescue her. As it's their only lead to finding Liquid, Snake is deployed in the area to find Naomi.
