Man saves hawk from snake

An unusual video has emerged from Florida, USA of a man saving a hawk which was being strangled by snake.

In the clip, which was filmed in the Everglades on October 2, the man carefully prises the black racer snake from the stricken bird's neck.

The hawk then hops away into the undergrowth.

"The bird probably grabbed the snake thinking it was an easy meal but he had different plans," the filmer wrote online.

Southern black racer snakes are not venomous but they are known for their willingness to take on and eat any animal they can overpower.
