At the age of 15 I attended Miami Beach Senior Highschool. It was here that I met a very inspiring teacher Doug Burris. Seeing something in me Doug gave me the unique opportunity to be part of the Classical Guitar Quintet. \r
Being the only freshman amongst four seniors, this was a pretty interesting experience, both in and out of the classroom. In 2001, my sophomore year I moved up to first chair. That year, a grant was awarded to the group by the state of Florida which gave us the rare opportunity to travel and perform in Japan at the International Peace Summit in Kagoshima. \r
During this 12 day tour of Japan I had many pleasant and eye opening experiences. One performance took place in a beautiful garden. After our performance a man asked if he could please play my guitar. I said of course and he sat down and played me this beautiful piece. For some reason that moment made a lasting impression and has been in the back of my mind for years. I later realized that the piece the older man played was Sakura Variations. \r
Here inspiration has turned to a reality. \r
