Back Tucks on Balance Beam | Whitney Bjerken
Whitney and Blakely head back to the gym! They say that the key to achieving world class expertise in any skill is a matter of pricing the correct way, for a total of around 10,000 hours. In this video, Whitney notches another 4 hours of price towards reaching her goals. Back tucks on the beam are pretty cool and fun, once you get over the fear of dying.\r

From About Sports:\r
It may seem counterintuitive, but most gymnasts view the back tuck as easier than a front tuck to perform on balance beam. The back tuck is simply a back flip in tucked position, and though the gymnast is going head-over-heels backwards, she can see the beam for most of the flip.\r
\r
From Wikipedia:\r
An acrobatic flip is a sequence of body movements in which a person leaps into the air and then rotates one or more times while airborne. Acrobatic flips are performed in acro dance, free running, gymnastics, cheerleadingand various other ivities. This is in contrast to freestyle BMX, in which a person revolves in the air about a bicycle.\r
Acrobatic flips can be started from a stationary, standing position and they are also commonly executed immediately following another rotational move, such as a roundoff or handspring, so as to take advantage of the angular momentum developed in the preceding move. In general, the hands do not touch the floor during execution of a flip and performers typically strive to land on the feet in an upright position.\r

Balance Beam\r
The balance beam is an artistic gymnastics apparatus, as well as the event performed using the apparatus. Both the apparatus and the event are sometimes simply referred to as beam. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is BB. The beam is a small, thin beam which is typically raised from the floor on a leg or stand at both ends. The balance beam is only performed by female gymnasts. Beams are usually made of leather like material.\r
