The American Music Awards was created by Dick Clark in 1973 and is now in its 45th year of production. The biggest difference between the AMAs and other music award shows like the Grammys® is that the winners are decided by the fans. Nominees for the AMAs are based on fan interactions as reflected by digital song and album sales, airplay, social media buzz, touring and video views. The event showcases America’s most popular musical releases from December 1st of the previous year through September 1st of the current year. Fans can cast a vote for their favorite award show nominees on the official AMA website and via Twitter.
Some of the most highly-anticipated awards include New Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Artist of The Year and Soundtrack. Dozens of talented presenters and performers are slated to hit the stage at L.A.’s Microsoft Theater this November 19th.
