Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) affects the brains of NFL players due to repeated blows to the head. Aaron Hernandez's brain showed signs of CTE, which causes depression, violence, and memory loss. He is now part of a growing list of NFL players with the brain affliction. After his initial arrest, prosecutors noted that he had a history of drug abuse and was very paranoid.
