Theresa May 'stuck TWO FINGERS UP to Remainers' claims Alastair Campbell
THERESA MAY feels a "profound sense of duty" to deliver Brexit to the British public that she decided to ignore Remain voters, former Tony Blair's spokesman Alastair Campbell said. Mr Campbell blasted Theresa May's plans for Brexit, accusing the Prime Minister of sticking "two fingers up" to Remainers.He told James O'Brien on LBC: "She probably does feel quite a profound sense of duty to deliver it but the scandal for me is that from day one, she, having been part of the 48 per cent, she completely stuck two fingers up to the 48 per cent."If you’re being fair to her she became Prime Minister off the back of Brexit, Cameron left, she came in. The fomer Prime Minister's spin doctor said it was a "scandal" Mrs May had not tried harder to bring the country together on Brexit.He said: “She has made no effort to bring the country together behind the plan.”The pro-Remain political aide made his comments mere days before the Prime Minister's highly anticipated Brexit speech in Florence on Friday.Mrs May is expected to use her speech to update European leaders on the UK's Brexit plans.
Downing Street sources say the address will be crucial in determining the direction of the EU departure negotiations over the coming months.Despite rumours of disunity within the Cabinet, Mrs May insisted she and her ministers shared a common goal for Brexit and would deliver "the right deal" for Britain.She said: ""We are all agreed as a Government about the importance of ensuring the right deal for Brexit, the right withdrawal arrangements but also a deep and special partnership between the EU and the UK in the future."This Government is driven from the front and we're all going to the same destination because we're all agreed that we are working hard to get the best possible deal for the UK in leaving."And we're all optimistic about what we can be achieving as a United Kingdom in the future.". 00FastNews.
