Researchers are investigating a new treatment method for patients with type 2 diabetes. The study is specifically examining the affect a new class of drug has on kidney function. Those with type 2 diabetes are known to suffer damage to kidney function, resulting in kidney failure, requiring the patient to receive dialysis or a transplant. The drug trial, in it's second phase, is testing the effects a sodium glucose inhibitor has on slowing the decline of kidney function.
