Cristiano Ronaldo netted a hat-trick to inspire a Portugal to a 5-1 win over the Faroe Islands in a 2018 World Cup Qualifier on Thursday evening.
The hosts broke the deadlock after just three minutes courtesy of a strike from Ronaldo, who fired into the top corner with an acrobatic, following a cross from Bernado Silva.
Portugal continued to dominate as the half went although the likes of Ronaldo and Andre Silva squandered chances to extend the lead.
However, Selecao were awarded a penalty in the 28th minute when Joao Mario was brought down. Ronaldo stepped up and made no mistake from the penalty spot.
The visitors, however, managed to pull a goal back in the 38th minute as Rogvi Baldvinsson slotted home from close range.
The score remained 2-1 to the European champions at the halftime break.
Portugal picked up from where they left off in the first half and bagged a third goal in the 58th minute when William Carvalho headed Ronaldo's cross.
Ronaldo completed his hat-trick after 64 minutes with a composed finish from inside the box, following a cross from Carvalho.
The hosts had a couple more efforts at goal after the 70-minute mark with Eliseu going closest with an effort from distance.
Portugal managed to bag a fifth goal in the 84th minute as Nelson Oliveira found the back of the net with a finish from close range.
