LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz on Saturday has officially launched NA-120 by-election campaign here for her mother and party candidate Kulsoom Nawaz.

Maryam held consultative meetings with municipal representatives and party workers at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secretariat in Model Town.

On the other hand, her father Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and other party members to deliberate upon the by-election at Jati Umra.

The attendees discussed matters relating constitutional amendment.

It merits to mention here that the seat for National Assembly from NA-120 (Lahore’s constituency) fell vacant after former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s ouster by Supreme Court in the landmark 28 July verdict. The by-poll is to be held by next month in the NA-120 constituency.

Deposed PM Nawaz – who was also the ex-party supremo – had reportedly opposed granting authority to Hamza Shehbaz Sharif as in-charge for running a by-election campaign for his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.
