American Idol Executives Defend Katy Perry's $25 Million Salary

Katy Perry is getting a cool 25 million dollars for her hosting duties on the reboot of American Idol… and a lot of people raised an eyebrow to the news.

But the producers are defending that decision… saying that the show is NOT more expensive than its competitors in the genre, and if other networks can make it work on similar properties, then why can’t ABC?

They added that Katy is brilliant and this should mark a transition in terms of own career… so we think it’s safe to say, if they don’t have a problem with it, then we don’t have a problem with it.

Regarding Ryan Seacrest’s role… they made it sound like it was always going to happen.

They said it will be hard for him now that he’s on the East Coast and they had to figure out how to make it work, but he’s the hardest working man in show business and they think he’s the face of Idol.

So regardless of what the show might cost, with the likes of Katy and Ryan, it’s hard to think it won’t be a success.

Yep, you gotta spend money to make money.
