by Jeff DonlanSo, now there’s a Russian connection to Air Force One? Well, sort of.The Air Force is reportedly considering buying a pair of jumbo Boeing 747-8s that were originally built in 2015 for Transaero, a now-bankrupt Russian airline. The Pentagon is now working on a contract with Boeing to repurpose two of those planes, which are each listed at $368.8 million. It’s part of a cost-cutting initiative by President Donald Trump, who has said building a new Air Force One would be too expensive.Either way, there’s a chance Trump will never set foot on Air Force Russia, as the proposed completion date for the new airplanes is well after the next presidential election.
