Today I’m going to show you how easily it is to size up your front sprocket and chain without removing them from the bike. Also how to remove and install the new parts with some tips of mine.

First brush clean the front sprocket area and chain.
Mark the sprocket in-between the teeth now spin the back wheel while counting the number of teeth.
For the chain start counting every outer link on your chain, when your done you need to times the amount by 2 and that’s how many links your chain has. Tip you have to count the joining link as well this is very important.
Now you can go to your local parts dealer and get the correct size sprocket and chain length for your bike.

Make sure your put the bike in first gear and lower the bike.
Undo the bolt and pry the sprocket off.
To remove the chain I will be using a plain screwdriver and a hammer. So now just remove the joining clip. Pull the chain from the bike to remove it.

Clean the drive shaft and apply some grease. Put the sprocket on with the washer. Tighten the sprocket bolt up to torque; you can get this setting from the bikes manual.
Check the chain length, back the chain tensioner off about half turn and then guide the chain on the bike.
Apply some grease to the joining link seals and pins now assemble it.
Tension the chain to the correct chain tension.
