PORTLAND — A transgender man has given birth to a baby boy, after enduring a miscarriage last year.

Trystan Reese, 34, was born a female. He began hormone-therapy treatment about 10 years ago in his transition to becoming a man, but he kept his original genitals. Having already adopted two kids, Reese and his partner Biff told Buzzfeed they "didn't ever dream of having, or wanting to have, a biological child."

When Reese had a surprise pregnancy last year, the couple's hopes and dreams changed. Unfortunately, Reese suffered a miscarriage after only six weeks.

Initially devastated, they decided to give it another try under doctor's supervision. Reese had to halt taking his testosterone treatments, but after roughly six months, his pregnancy tests tested positive.

On July 15, the couple welcomed their first biological child, Leo Murray Chaplow, to the world.

Though his unique pregnancy might have seemed bizarre to some, Reese claims he hasn't endured even an ounce of transphobia from anyone he's met.
